Nürnberg concert Review

By Christoph Krug

I wrote down all i have seen and experienced at the 29th of June 2001 when i saw
my seventh Bonnie Tyler concert in Nürnberg / Germany since the first one in 1992.
I wrote this exclusive for Paul Gunsaulies, the creator of the Official Bonnie Tyler
Homepage. It was once again his name and reputation who helped me and brought me
this time to the backstage area. Thanks a million times Paul.

Every couple of years for the last decades Germany has been shaken by strange
tremors. First a rustling then a rumbling and finally a shuddering roar that signals
Bonnie Tyler is back in action. The earthquake took place in Nürnberg this time. It was
my second Bonnie concert within a month after i have met Bonnie in Dietzenbach at
the 18th of May. After i have finished my job i drove to Nürnberg which is about 200
kilometers away from Frankfurt, I have met Jan who is the creator of Bonnie's
Homepage in Denmark. We drove to the venue many hours before the show began but
we were not the first ones. Some other fans were waiting much longer for Bonnie. The
band arrived at five o`clock and Bonnie arrived very late. I was surprised that she was
so late. She explained that the airline had lost all her luggage so that she has to
perform in her street clothings. I think it was the very first time that she had to
perform nearly barefoot, just in sandals (fortunately she was not barefoot all over).
Many fans have been there to get autographs. One girl had a big Tattoo of Bonnies face
on her chest. Crazy. Although Bonnie was not very delighted about the loss of her
luggage she was, as always, very very friendly, and signed so many records, tickets
posters and many other items. She really took time for her fans.

The show started at 20.15 h. It was another open air concert in a wonderful venue.
Approximately1000 people showed up and she started with "Have you ever seen the
rain". She performed all her hits like "What you got", "Lost in France" , "It`s a
Heartache", "Total eclipse of the heart", "Bitterblue", "Against the wind", "Save up all
your tears", "Faster than the speed of night", "Turtle Blues", "Holding out for a hero",
"The Best", "Hide your Heart", "Notes from America" and "To love somebody". The show
finished after 90 minutes. She has once again confirmed that she is the undisputed
master of Rock. She possesses a voice of great power and intensity. Robert was also
there and danced beside the stage and all the people went totally crazy and didn`t want
to let her go. After the encore the fans were still screaming "Encore" and nobody
left the venue but unfortunately she did not come out again.

After the concert i had the great honour to go to the backstage area. I have met
Regina from the German Fanclub in Hamburg and Dagmar Wildmann who has shot many
photos over the years of Bonnie. She also made the Photos for the "Silhouette in Red"
Tour Book from 1994. I talked a little bit to Matt Davis, Bonnies tour manager since
many many years. A very nice guy. Bonnie was signing autographs backstage and
talked to some people. I was waiting for my chance to speak to her. After a while
everybody was calming down a little bit and i told her that all the members of the
Mailing list love and admire her very much. She just smiled and said: "I am not worthy,
i am not worthy". After this i told have asked her of her opinion about the interview
with Jonathan Ross. I told her that many of us were complaining because of his
interview style. Bonnie said that she was not at all angry about this guy. She was
nervous before the interview but Mr. Ross made the upcoming "Best of " CD to the
Record of the week. She told me to tell you this. She also said that she probably will
be touring the U. K. if this CD is a success in the U.K. because there will be TV
commercials to support the CD. I think we all should contribute that it will be a success.
I told her that her last Best of CD "Power and Passion" went to Number 88 Position in
Germany with the support of TV spots. She obviously did not know it. In August she
will be in Studio to record a new CD with very new material. Believe it or not but i did not
ask her about the scrapbook. You can call me an idiot or a fool or whatever you want.
After this she said that she wants to speak with her band and so she went to the band.
I asked them if they would agree to make a photo of the band and of Bonnie. They said
immediately Yes and so we made this photo. (this picture is up on the homepage)

After we went out of the venue approximately 50 people were still waiting for her to
make photos and autographs. It was nearly not possible to get to the car so Robert had
to help.

I had the great pleasure to take a look behind the scenes which is a very interesting
thing and i had the great honour to talk to Bonnie, Robert, Matt and the Band.
Everybody was very very nice and friendly. Thank you Bonnie for this great great night
and for your patience. You know we`ll never go as long as we know it`s coming straight
from your heart. You never walk alone.

See you a hundred times.
