Hide Your Heart is the seventh studio album by Bonnie Tyler. After two successful outings with Jim Steinman, Bonnie recorded her third album for CBS Records with Desmond Child at Bearsville Studios in Woodstock.
The label had given Child a budget for three songs, and owing to a dedicated team of songwriters and session musicians, he managed to stretch the budget to allow for a 10-track album recording.
Though not a huge hit, many of the album’s tracks enjoyed future success with other artists, including “The Best” for Tina Turner, “Save Up All Your Tears” for Cher, and “Don’t Turn Around” which has been interpreted in numerous genres.
The album images were taken by British photographer John Swannell, known primarily for his work with the British Royal Family. The art direction blended Bonnie’s leather jacket rock image with 18th-century Rococo architecture and decor.
The album was renamed Notes from America for its US release in September 1988. The cover art features Bonnie tearing through a wall of scrap paper.
